Physical Therapy

Nuclear Medicine
Nuclear medicine is a branch of medicine and medical imaging that uses the
nuclear properties of matter in diagnosis and therapy. Physicians use nuclear
imaging to visualize the structure and function of an organ, tissue, bone or
system of the body.
Nuclear medicine imaging scans are performed to:
- visualize heart blood flow and function (such as a myocardial perfusion
scan)
- scan lungs for respiratory and blood flow problems
- analyze kidney function
- identify bleeding into the bowel
- measure thyroid function to detect an overactive or underactive thyroid
- determine the presence or spread of cancer

Osteoporosis Examination (Bone Densitometry)
A bone densitometry scan is a special type of X-ray test used to measure the
calcium content of the bone, usually in the lumbar region (the lower back) and
the hips. The examination is also called a DEXA-scan, QDR-scan or BMD (bone
mineral density) measurement.
Sleep Studies
A Sleep Studies are a multiple-component test, which electronically transmits
and records specific physical activities while you sleep. The recordings become
data, which will be "read" or analyzed by a qualified physician to determine
whether or not you have a sleep disorder.
